Dean’s Message
Dear Friends,
When the UW-Fond du Lac campus was built 40 years ago, an investment was made by the citizens of this area and the state of Wisconsin to bring higher education opportunities to our local communities.
The return on that investment made in UW-Fond du Lac is excellent and can be measured in terms of economic impact, retention rates and graduation statistics. But, an even more important measure of return on investment is on the lives this institution has touched and impacted.
Time and again, alumni tell us that they would not have been able to realize their dream of earning a college degree if this campus had not been built.
Our 2008
Distinguished Alumni Award
recipient, Oscar Kraus, attended UW-Fond du Lac as a returning adult student before the term had even been defined. Married with three children, he was able to earn a college degree because the campus was close to home. Oscar’s wife, Delores, and two of their four children also attended UW-Fond du Lac.
And, in another story that spans across generations,
all three of Dorothy and Bob Royea’s children attended UW-Fond du Lac. Their daughter, Sandi Royea Braun Roehrig, met her first husband here and two of their three sons were students here.
These are just two of the 20,000 plus
alumni stories that could be told. We invite you to reconnect to the campus and let us tell your story.
As we celebrate our 40th anniversary year, the four
campus deans share their recollections as stewards of the investment in this campus over four decades. They are stories of continued dedication to our mission of providing a high quality and affordable University of Wisconsin educational and cultural experience.
This year, we also checked back in with
two former student government leaders from key periods in the campus history and you can read more about their perspectives on the campus and how it impacted their lives.
The UW-Fond du Lac Foundation and
Alumni Association are important partners in the exceptional educational experience here at the campus. In a world where tuition has risen sharply over the past five years, and state support has dwindled, the continued investment by Foundation donors to students and the campus as both an institution of higher learning and a community resource is appreciated.
Thank you for your continued support of our campus.
Sincerely,

Dr. Daniel J. Blankenship
Dean and CEO (2002- July 2009)
