Gottfried Arboretum and Prairie updates
The July 2008 Prairie Fest event held in the Gottfried Arboretum and Prairie was a huge success with an estimated 1,000 people enjoying many activities for the entire family.
During 2008, most of the work for the trails restoration project was completed. This included resurfacing the arboretum trail and installing signage in the picnic shelter and along the trail.
New signage along the trail explains the tree communities represented in the formal arboretum and signs in the picnic shelter tell about the history of prairies in Fond du Lac County.
There’s also a new display garden at the main entrance to the campus featuring prairie plants native to Fond du Lac County. The garden was designed by Connie Ramthun and installed with the help of Master Gardener volunteers and campus employees.
