UW-Fond du Lac offers counseling services on campus

UW-Fond du Lac has partnered with Doll & Associates, S.C., a local outpatient mental health facility, to provide mental health counseling services for students on campus.

UW-Fond du Lac Dean Daniel Blankenship says it was an important goal for the university to offer counseling services to students directly on campus where they would be easily accessible. The UW System has encouraged all campuses across the state to provide counseling services for students.

“With the support of the Student Life and Interest Committee and the UW System, we were able to put these services in place for the fall semester,” said Blankenship.

Students are eligible to schedule up to six one hour sessions at no cost. Additional appointments can be arranged with Doll & Associates, but are at the expense of the individual student.

“College can be a very exciting time, it can also be very stressful,” said Tom Martin, assistant campus dean for student services at UW-Fond du Lac. “These experienced clinicians are available to help our students deal with the transition to college, depression, anxiety, time management concerns, relationship problems, test anxiety, family issues and more.”

The Counseling Center at UW-Fond du Lac is staffed by Dr. Matt Doll, PhD; Anne Brunette, MSW and Jackie Block, MFT on Mondays and Thursdays, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. and on Wednesdays, 3-6 p.m.

Doll & Associates will also offer free educational workshops for students and staff at the campus on a variety of subjects through this partnership. The first three-part workshop entitled “How to Avoid Marrying a Jerk or Jerkette” is scheduled for noon on Nov. 13, 18 and 20 in the Counseling Center.

Any UW-Fond du Lac student wishing to make an appointment can call the Counseling Center at (920) 929-1182. Students can also contact Doll & Associates directly at (920) 907-8201, but must be sure to identify themselves as a UW-Fond du Lac student when scheduling an appointment.
