Free concert featuring music
faculty from throughout Wisconsin to be held
at UW-Fond du Lac on April 3
3/20/2009.—UW-Fond du Lac will host “The
Faces of Music,” a free concert of instrumental
ensembles at 7:30 p.m. on April 3 in the Prairie
Theater, 400 University Dr.
University of Wisconsin music faculty members
from around the state will perform an array of
compositions in a variety of ensembles from
brass and piano to heavy metal and electronic
movie music.
Dan
Rager, UW-Fond du Lac music professor, is
organizing this first-ever event. Rager is
recognized internationally as a composer and
conductor of symphonic music throughout the
United States, Canada, Europe and Russia. He has
over 100 compositions and arrangements
published.
“This will be an evening of contemporary
music premieres that promises to be energetic
and engaging,” said Rager. “Contemporary music
buffs will enjoy the world premiere of a film
which was a collaboration of the
music
and film departments at UW-Fond du Lac.”
Rager composed the electronic music for the
premiere of “Interplanetary Travel” which uses
visual abstract images created by
Frances
Perkins, UW-Fond du Lac communication arts
professor.
“This collaboration resulted in a piece that
every listener will interpret differently
through their imagination,” said Rager. “Imagine
watching the solar system and you being sucked
into a black hole from the outer depths of
space. What would this event sound like?”
The public is invited to this free event. For
